An Excellent Mount and an Excellent Rider

 

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا زَمْعَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ وَهْرَامٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَامِلَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ نِعْمَ الْمَرْكَبُ رَكِبْتَ يَا غُلَامُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنِعْمَ الرَّاكِبُ هُوَ

– 

ibn ‘Abbas related, “The Messenger of Allah  was once carrying Husain ibn ‘Ali on his shoulders. A man remarked, ‘What an excellent mount you are riding, O boy!’ The Prophet  then said, ‘And what an excellent rider he is!‘”

(Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
